What We Believe

Here are our foundational beliefs, our Declaration of Faith

The Scriptures

We believe in the plenary, verbal inspiration of the scriptures, both of the Old and New Testaments. By this we understand that the Holy Spirit not only inspired the thoughts of the writers, but also formulated the very word structure into which the thoughts were cast with the result that the original documents were inerrant as to fact and infallible as to truth. (I Corinthians 2:13; II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21)

God

We believe in one God, creator of heaven and earth eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19)

  • God the Father is perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom and measureless in power. We rejoice that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. (I Chronicles 29:11; Isaiah 6:3; Romans 11:33; Ephesians 2:4-6; I Peter 1:3-5)
  • God the Son: Jesus Christ is God’s only begotten Son, born of a virgin, sinless in life, who atoned for the sins of the world by His substitutionary death on the cross. We believe in His bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven, His high priestly intercession for His people, His lordship and His personal, visible, premillennial return to the world according to His promise. (John 1:1-2; Luke 1:34-35; I Peter 2:21-24; I Thessalonians 4:13-18)
  • God the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment. His works in the believer include, but are not limited to, salvation: baptizing into the body of Christ, in-dwelling, sealing eternally, progressive sanctification; gifting, filling, teaching, enabling and glorifying. (John 14:26; 16:8-11; Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 12:13)

Man

We believe that man was created in the image of God and was originally without sin. Because of the sin of Adam and Eve all men are now sinners both by nature and by choice. Man is unable to remedy his own lost condition. Every human being is free under God to decide for himself in matters of faith, life and worship. (Genesis 1:26-27; John 3:18; Romans 5:12)

Salvation

We believe that salvation is deliverance from the penalty and power of sin and, at the Lord’s return, from the very presence of sin. It is the gift of God offered to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This faith is manifested in works pleasing to God. (Ephesians 2:5, 8-10; Romans 6:14; I Corinthians 15:42-44; Titus 2:11-14)

The Church

The Universal Church: We believe that the church is the body of Christ which is made up of every born-again believer since Pentecost regardless of race, sex or national origin and will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air. (I Corinthians 12:12-14; Ephesians 1:22-23; Acts 2:47; I Thessalonians 4:16-17)

The Local Church

The local church is an organized body of baptized believers voluntarily associated together for the worship of God, the fellowship of believers, the proclamation of the Gospel of Christ throughout the world and the observance of the Biblical ordinances (Believer’s baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper). The local church is autonomous and is not subject to any outside ecclesiastical or political authority. (Acts 2:41-42; I Corinthians 14:40; Matthew 28:19-20; I Corinthians 11:24-25)

Satan

We believe that Satan is a person, a fallen angel, the author of sin and the cause of the Fall. He is the open and declared enemy of God and man. He will be eternally punished in the Lake of Fire. (Isaiah 14:12; I Peter 5:8; Revelation 20:10)

The Final State

We believe in the bodily resurrection of both believer and non-believer. The saved will enjoy the wonders of God’s presence forever and the lost will be eternally punished in the Lake of Fire. (John 5:28-29; Revelation 22:3-5; 20:15)

Righteous Living

We believe that the principles contained in this declaration of faith teach a life to be lived and a gospel to be preached and that righteous living and Godly works are fruits and evidence of our salvation. We strive, therefore by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk worthy of the Lord and practice these principles of righteous living found in the scriptures. (Colossians 1:10; Galations 5:18-23; Romans 6:1-2)
