Wood Village Baptist Church will be known by these priorities. They define the very nature and purpose of our church. These will not change; our goal is to continually grow in love and intentional response to these essentials.
About
Jesus is King
Jesus is the supreme authority and focus of the church. Our allegiance is to Him alone. The Church is not built around staff or leaders- but around a body of believers committed to being faithful followers of Jesus. The Holy Spirit leads the Church and empowers us to complete the kingdom-building mission of God in Wood Village.
Prayer is Essential
Prayer is communing with God both personally and corporately. It is the means to draw near to God and to communicate with Him. God calls us to draw near to Him in prayer and He promises to respond with His grace (provision, forgiveness, healing, protection, peace, guidance, and wisdom). We come before Him in prayer to praise and thank Him, confess, and make requests for ourselves and others.
The Scriptures are Precious and Transforming
We hold the Bible in high esteem. It is entirely trustworthy and has the words that lead to life. We want to grow in our knowledge and love of the Bible as it reveals the nature of God and reality. We aim to be good hearers and doers of everything God calls His people to do and be in the scriptures.
We Worship Together in Spirit and in Truth
True worship is acknowledging to Yahweh and before others that we value Him above everything else. It is directed and empowered by the Holy Spirit, enabling us to discern His will. We know that gathering for worship both unifies us with one another and transforms us before Him at an essential level. So, we respond to the Spirit’s leading in words and action.
We Share the Good News of the Kingdom
God’s mission in the world is to bring people to knowledge and love of Him. He invites us to become partners together with Him to bring the message of God to all people in the power of the Spirit. We have the responsibility and privilege to bring this message of reconciliation both in words and actions.

● We Follow Jesus Together
○ Discipleship is strategically aligning our lives after Christ, and in imitating the life patterns of those who are Christ-like. We celebrate working together in unity as we express our care for each other and as we train up all our people to carry on the work of the Church.
● Our Neighbors Matter
○ We are a neighborhood church. Our physical location provides us with clear and abundant opportunities for outreach. We want to serve the community around our church as part of His kingdom plan for its people. We want our campus to be a wholesome, welcoming, and useful place for our community. Our outreach is responsive to the cultures and needs of our surrounding community.
● We Celebrate Family
○ Scripture places family at the core of discipleship. The home is seen as the primary place where God is taught and worshiped, and where the character of Jesus is to be demonstrated and passed along to the coming generations. Our church has the responsibility to support our families and equip them for this responsibility. We also have the responsibility to live as a unified family; caring for and protecting each other as we are all, at times, vulnerable to the influence and threat of evil.
