About Ray Lubeck

Ray has a passion for teaching the Bible to those eager to grow in their understanding and love for God. He taught Bible and theology courses at Multnomah University (Portland) for 35 years, while also serving on the faculties of Ecola Bible College (Cannon Beach), Western Seminary (Portland), Ravencrest Chalet (Colorado), Holsby Bible School (Sweden), and Kauai Island Training Institute (Hawaii).But his heart has always been for seeing the Church benefit in practical and transformative ways through following the teaching of the Scriptures.
 
On the academic side, Ray has undergraduate training at Multnomah School of the Bible (BS), graduate training at Regent College in BC, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago (MA), Jerusalem University College (Israel), and Multnomah Seminary (Portland). His doctorate is in the Old Testament, earned at the University of South Africa. Ray has written two published books, Reading the Bible for a Change and Swallowing Jonah. He has also written a number of book chapters, articles, book reviews, and edited Is My Bible the Inspired Word of God? He has also presented many scholarly papers and served on various study groups for the Evangelical Theological Society, is a member of the Institute for Biblical Research and Society of Biblical Literature, and done numerous podcasts.
 
On the church side, Ray has been very active in teaching and preaching, worship, and different board leadership positions. He began his ministry life serving full time in the local church, and is now returning to those roots with Bible Connections hosted by Wood Village, where he and his wife have been involved for over five years.
 
On the personal side, he has been married to Tamara for well over forty years. They have two adult children and six grandchildren. Besides music, Ray also enjoys reading, very long drives with his wife, and smoked oyster pizza. And together he and his wife love spending time with people, getting to know them, hearing their stories, and learning to love them.
