“Give Thanks”

“Give Thanks”

November 25, 2015 Ponder

“Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done.” Psalm 105:1

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day in America. I am grateful that our nation recognizes the need to give special emphasis to giving thanks.

*I am grateful for this day. Regardless of how many, or how few, days I have left on Planet Earth, I have this one and I want to make the most out of it.

*I am grateful for the privilege of growing older. Someone once said they did not like the idea of getting old, but neither did they like the alternative. There are downsides to getting older but also a lot of privileges.

*I am grateful for people who have invested in my life over the years, and for those who do so today. I am a better person because of their patient influence.

*I am grateful for my early years in life and the experience of being a kid with boundaries. Life on the ranch required discipline, which affects the way I live today.

*I am grateful for mentors who did not even realize they were mentoring me; they were just doing what older and wiser people are supposed to do.

*I am grateful for Carol, my wife of 50 years, and for the journey we continue to enjoy. God had a wonderful idea when He created the family.

*I am grateful that I still get to do what I enjoy – pastoring a church of wonderful, supportive people. As a young man, I could not have imagined what an amazing experience this can be.

*I am grateful that Savior Jesus has connected me back to Creator God and assured me that I will be with Him forever. Like the Psalmist, I want to respond to Him by making known “among the nations what He has done.”

On this day before Thanksgiving – and every day – HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

It is Not Mine

We Miss So Much
