“In His Time”

“In His Time”

July 8, 2015 Ponder

Timing is a factor in all that happens on Planet Earth.  It is interesting to remember that the timeless Creator God designed our world to operate continually and completely in the context of time.  The writer of Ecclesiastes declared in chapter 3:  “There is an appointed time for everything.  And there is a time for every event under heaven.”

The universe operates with perfect timing and if any part of it varied there would be major destruction.  From the rotation of the planets in relation to the sun, to the intricate parts of a car engine, timing is essential.  Anyone who denies the existence of Creator God must find an alternative in order to have some explanation of the principle of timing in our world.

I am amazed that all of this time managed existence is subject to the timeless Creator.  According to the account in Revelation there will eventually be no time limits.  Eternity has always been with the Creator.  Time is a temporary aspect of His creation, and once again eternity will prevail.  This so overwhelms my mind that I can hardly write about it – much less understand it.

As to the daily routine and the significance of timing, there is no doubt that our life experience is continually affected by it.  News stories remind us of how close someone came to being harmed but they were “one step away” when the tree fell or the bullet passed.  With millions of miles of space for air traffic, two airplanes nearly collide but a second of time makes the difference.

Relationships are governed by time.  Two people just “happened” to meet, began conversation and eventually married.  Some would call this Providence while others just see it as unusual or perfect timing.  One person was shopping and found themselves standing on a number in the store when the loud speaker announced them a winner.  Timing was the key and they were not even aware of the game they were playing.

From Creator God’s perspective there is no indication of chance timing.  He has designed everything for its time.  The time of our birth, what our life will include and the date of our death – all is known to Him.  Although we can interrupt His plan and make choices hurtful to ourselves, it is His desire that we enjoy the beauty of a life experience directed by Him and on His schedule.

A song says:  “In His time He makes all things beautiful.”  This prompts the appropriate response:  “Lord please show me every day, as you’re teaching me your way, that you do just what you say in your time.”

Today is your time, my time, but most important His time to make our life all that He intended.  Creator God, the timeless creator of time, has appointed the time for everything in our life – and it is beautiful.  I don’t want to mess it up by ignoring His timing.
